Description
The Frauwallner Steirischer Junker 2026 11 % vol. is a fresh, youthful Austrian white wine from Styria, produced by the Frauwallner Winery in Straden in the Vulkanland region of Styria. As the ‘Steirischer Junker 2026’, it marks the first wine of the new vintage and embodies the Styrian tradition of presenting young wines shortly after the harvest. The carefully blended cuvée consists of 90 per cent Müller-Thurgau and 10 per cent Pinot Blanc. The grapes come from selected hillside plots facing south-east, south and south-west, whose soils are characterised by volcanic rock, basalt and alluvial gravel. These varied geological conditions form the basis for the wine’s distinctive character.
When managing the vineyards, the Frauwallner Winery places particular emphasis on careful site selection and manual leaf pruning. The grape harvest is also carried out exclusively by hand, allowing the grapes to be carefully selected whilst still in the vineyard. Following gentle processing, the wine is finely filtered and prepared for early enjoyment. The Frauwallner Steirischer Junker 2026 is characterised by its uncomplicated, approachable style and is particularly well-suited as a seasonal white wine to accompany autumnal and winter dishes. With an alcohol content of 11% in the 0.75-litre bottle, this Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Blanc cuvée from the Vulkanland region of Styria is a versatile companion for social occasions. It will be at its best between 2026 and 2027, when this young vintage will showcase its characteristic style to particular advantage.
