Description
The Rochelt Weichsel 2010 50% is an exceptionally long-aged sour cherry brandy from Austria, in which the intense aromas of fully ripe sour cherries take centre stage. The fruit comes from the sunny regions of western Styria and is only harvested once it has reached its optimal balance of sweetness and acidity. To ensure this, the glossy red sour cherries are picked individually by hand over several weeks, so that only fully ripe and particularly aromatic fruit is used. The 2010 vintage was subsequently distilled by the Tyrolean distillery Rochelt into a fruit brandy rich in character. The uncompromising selection of fruit and the distinctive character of the vintage exemplify the time-honoured philosophy of the Rochelt distillery.
Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally long ageing period of 15 years, during which the fruit, spice and the stone fruit aromas typical of sour cherries blend into a concentrated whole. With a robust 50% ABV, the Rochelt Weichsel 2010 is dry, racy and full-bodied, with the natural sour cherry flavour accompanied by subtle cinnamon-like nuances and a delicate hint of bitter almond. It is precisely the combination of Styrian sour cherries, the 2010 vintage and 15 years of maturation that makes this bottling a particularly characterful example of Austrian fine spirits. The 0.7-litre bottle in a wooden box emphasises its exclusive presentation and also makes the Rochelt Weichsel a special gift idea for lovers of matured fruit spirits.
