It is produced by West Cork Distillers in County Cork, in the south-west of Ireland – a distillery founded in 2003 that is renowned for its innovative cask maturation techniques and artisanal whisky production. As part of the West Cork Small Batch series, this single malt is initially matured in first-fill bourbon casks before undergoing a final finish in new, unused oak casks from the Kelvin Cooperage. This so-called ‘Virgin Oak’ secondary maturation lends the whisky additional depth and a pronounced oak character.
