Description
The Tomintoul Distillery, situated in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.
Situated at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland’s second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of spirit produced annually is exported to the United States for use in blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.
The Tomintoul 16 Years Old, which matures in carefully selected bourbon casks, is characterised by a maturation period of 16 years, allowing it to develop its distinctive aromas and balanced flavour. This whisky is produced by the fourth generation of distillers, led by Robert Fleming, who brings his extensive knowledge and experience to the production process.
