Nestled amongst orchards and vineyards lies the historic distillery of the Hödl Hof, where fine spirits have been produced for generations in accordance with the ancient Styrian tradition. The quality of the spirits is guaranteed by the use of a 300-litre rough distillation still and a 200-litre fine distillation still, both made of pure copper. The estate’s own fruit is transported directly from the orchards to the fermentation cellars, where it is gently fermented under temperature-controlled conditions. Following the double distillation process, which reflects the essence of the ancient Styrian art of distilling, only the high-proof ‘heart’ of the spirit is extracted. This is then matured in wood, glass or stainless steel to perfect its character.

For this fine hazelnut brandy, fresh hazelnuts are gently roasted to release their intense, nutty aroma. They are then macerated with high-quality wheat grain so that the nuts’ subtle flavour nuances can be fully extracted. The mash is left to mature for several weeks before being distilled. During the distillation process, only the high-proof ‘heart’ of the distillate is collected, which ensures the spirit’s unmistakable quality and full flavour. The hazelnuts used come from the Genusshof Theurer in Raabs in the Waldviertel, a trusted partner renowned for regional top quality and sustainable cultivation.

The result is a hazelnut brandy that impresses with its intense aromas, perfect balance and regional authenticity.
