Cointreau, with an alcohol content of 40% vol. and a bottle size of 0.7 l, is a classic orange liqueur renowned worldwide for its clear, intense orange flavour. Since its foundation in 1849, Cointreau has established itself as one of the most significant and popular triple sec Curaçao liqueurs and is regarded as an essential ingredient in many classic cocktails. Cointreau is made from a combination of sweet and bitter orange peel sourced from the finest growing regions in Haiti, Brazil and Spain. These are macerated in alcohol and then distilled to extract the full aroma of the orange peel, before sugar and water are added to create Cointreau in its distinctive form.
