Bommerlunder Aquavit is a traditional spirit with a long history dating back to 1895. The recipe originally comes from the Bommerlund Kro inn, which was situated on the German-Danish border. Since then, this aquavit has been produced using a tried-and-tested method that perfectly blends the characteristic flavours of caraway, dill and other herbs and spices. Since 2000, production has taken place in Schleswig-Holstein, whilst distillation is carried out in Lower Saxony.

After distillation, Bommerlunder Aquavit is matured for six months in oak casks, giving it a distinctive smoothness and subtle notes of wood and vanilla. Aquavit (from the Latin ‘aqua vitae’ – water of life) is similar to gin in its production, but is based on caraway and dill rather than juniper. This gives it its unmistakable, spicy and fresh character.

Thanks to its tradition stretching back over 100 years and its maturation in oak casks, this aquavit offers a full-bodied and authentic taste experience that is particularly appreciated by lovers of classic caraway-based spirits.
