The Winkler-Hermaden Olivin 2021 is an expressive red wine from south-east Styria, and ranks amongst the finest wines produced by the long-established Winkler-Hermaden winery. With its impressive 3-litre bottle presented in an elegant wooden box, it is the perfect wine for special occasions and festive moments. The 33rd vintage of this exceptional wine is made from the Blauer Zweigelt grape variety, which thrives on the mineral-rich soils around the Kapfensteiner Kogel. Named after the semi-precious stone olivine, which occurs as an inclusion in the basalt rock of this region, this wine symbolises the connection between earth, wood and vines – a truly unique expression of terroir.


The grapes were carefully harvested by hand from 23 to 29 September 2020 and, following gentle vinification, developed into a wine that impresses with its finesse and power. It was aged for 24 months in barriques made from Kapfenstein oak, which gave the Olivin its distinctive spice, depth and structure. It was bottled on 25 May 2023 and has been available since 1 September 2023. With an alcohol content of 14% vol., a dry style and the estate’s organic farming practices – and being vegan as well – it embodies the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
