The Balvenie 12 Years Old Double Wood 40% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an outstanding single malt Scotch whisky from the historic Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside region. It is one of the distillery’s classics and embodies masterful craftsmanship that is evident at every stage of production – from growing its own barley and traditional malting through to cask maturation and blending.


This twelve-year-old single malt owes its name and its exceptional depth to maturation in two different types of cask. It was first matured for over twelve years in ex-Bourbon casks made of American oak, which impart gentle notes of vanilla and honey. This was followed by a further maturation of around nine months in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, during which rich, fruity aromas and a warm spiciness developed. Finally, the whisky is blended for around three months in large oak casks – known as ‘tuns’ – to harmoniously combine its various cask components.
